20 Years LaterI have been meeting with the believers in the church in Albuquerque since 1978. I am in my early 40's.
What attracted me to the ministry enjoyed by the local churches was the focus on Christ and His purpose to have the church. In meeting with the Christians, and at meals with these believers, I found their frankness, honesty and love for the Lord Jesus very encouraging. These believers mentioned the ministry of two brothers, Watchman Nee and Witness Lee. I later found out that they were speaking of two Christian brothers that were from mainland China. This sounded unusual since neither was from the U.S.
Because of the proper living that I saw in these believers, I started reading and studying Witness Lee's writings to see what these saw. Everything I read and heard in his ministry of the Bible caused me to consider my relationship to the Lord. I realized that I needed to pursue Christ on my own inwardly, and to meet with those who were pursuing Christ in this way.
I personally met Witness Lee on two different occasions, one at a conference in Albuquerque in the early 80's, and one at a wedding reception in Anaheim, California, in 1984. My first impressions were as follows: a little man, not flamboyant, a good listener, and actually very quiet, unless the Lord Jesus was talked about. I have heard him speak many times. His speaking was always spiritually energizing, causing me to consider the Lord's needs, and my need to grow to meet those needs.
It has been over 20 years now and I praise the Lord Jesus for bringing me along this way. I could never have chosen a better one. The care of the members of His Body and the Lord's daily speaking through His Word and the members of His Body keeps me for Him. I love Him, and desire that He would be satisfied.
